HIPAA
The Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, established in 1996 is charged with creating a uniform standard for safeguarding patient records. HIPAA standards pertain to the security of electronic transactions and sharing of sensitive patient information. As a provider of practice management systems, PAI must always be proactive with mandated changes. While some vendors are still struggling with HIPAA regulations, PAI and our companies were compliant prior to the deadlines.
Practice Alternatives employs an OIG and HIPAA compliance officer to ensure that we are utilizing best practices and that we are always working in manner consistent with rules and regulations. All staff members undergo regular HIPAA training and our HIPAA officer keeps our team current with any changes and/or updates.
